Hyak Wash Bay

This WSDOT maintenance facility is located at the top of Snoqualmie Pass, and was designed as an enclosure for rinsing off, and thawing out of the various snow/road vehicles used in maintaining the roads in the area. A pre-engineered metal building was installed, with special attention to snow load requirements and durability from constant use.

Maintenance vehicles enter through an automatic overhead coiling door and drive into the rinse bay. Once the coiling door is closed, they can rinse the vehicle off and water is collected through catch basins in the floor, sediment is trapped, and remaining water is discharged to the local sewer system. Vehicles can then pull forward through another automatic overhead coiling door and leave the building.
