Takopid Medical Campus

Takopid Medical Facility recently completed a multi-phased renovation and addition to accommodate the growing needs of the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority (PTHA). PTHA provides quality healthcare and promotes wellness in a culturally appropriate manner to more than 10,000 American Indians/Alaska Native individuals. Designers, healthcare staff, and Tribal members worked together to create a quality environment that puts the patient first.

Initial planning included Lean visioning and operational evaluations to identify inefficiencies in patient flow and building layout. The first phases transformed the 53,000 SF building’s central core and lobby areas, as well as updated the existing dental suite and added an orthodontics area. In keeping with PTHA’s mission, the project incorporated numerous elements of local heritage, including the skills of local tribal craftsmen, historical imagery, and story murals.
