JBLM Child Development Centers

The project included the renovation of four childhood development center (CDC) facilities: Beachwood CDC, Clarkmoor CDC, Madigan CDC, and a CDC addition to existing Youth Activity Center (YAC) with an overall area of 90,000 SF and capacity of 1,064 children. The total upgrade and expansion of these 25-year-old facilities were needed as they failed to meet new Army standards for child safety, visibility, and supervision, as well as the increasing demand.

Childcare areas were remodeled, reconfigured, and opened up to meet current code, operational and safety standards, and to greatly increase visibility and ability of staff to supervise children. Roofing, windows and doors, interior finishes, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and security systems were replaced throughout, which provided a significant facelift to the interior and exterior, and significantly improved comfort. The energy efficiency of the facilities increased as they were designed for LEED Silver rating.
