Tacoma Dome Renovations

The Tacoma Dome was constructed in 1983 as the largest wooden domed arena in the world, a title that it still retains when measured by volume. Helix Design Group was commissioned to provide full design through bidding and construction administration for the first major renovations since the Dome’s original construction. The renovation offers dramatic, visual, functional, and operational improvements to both the interior and exterior of the complex.

The scope of this 366,000 SF renovation included the installation of new telescoping seating (20,438 seats) to replace the arena seating, which provides more legroom and comfort while greatly improving operational flexibility. Additional interior renovations included new artist dressing rooms and new public restrooms. Exterior renovations included façade material updates, gateway entries, signage; and lighting updates.
